🚨 To report a safeguarding concern immediately, call 0121 751 2260 or email hello@cubehousingservices.com — for life-threatening emergencies, call 999.

1. Our commitment

Cube Housing is committed to safeguarding the welfare of all residents and people who come into contact with our services. We believe every person has the right to live free from abuse, harm, and exploitation. This policy applies to all Cube Housing staff, volunteers, and contractors.

2. What is safeguarding?

Safeguarding means protecting an adult's right to live in safety, free from abuse and neglect. Types of abuse include: physical abuse; emotional or psychological abuse; financial or material abuse; sexual abuse; domestic abuse; modern slavery or exploitation; neglect and acts of omission; and discriminatory abuse. Any of these may constitute a safeguarding concern requiring action.

3. Our safeguarding responsibilities

All Cube Housing staff are trained to recognise signs of abuse and neglect. We follow the Birmingham Adult Safeguarding Board procedures. We work in partnership with Birmingham City Council Adult Social Care, the police, the NHS, and other agencies to protect residents from harm. All staff hold enhanced DBS certificates and receive safeguarding training as part of their induction and ongoing CPD.

4. How to report a concern

If you are concerned that a resident — or anyone you come into contact with — may be experiencing abuse, neglect, or exploitation: do not ignore it; do not investigate it yourself or put yourself at risk; contact Cube Housing immediately using the details below. In an emergency where there is immediate risk to life, call 999 first. Birmingham Adult Social Care can also be contacted directly on 0121 303 1234.

5. Designated safeguarding lead

Cube Housing's Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) is responsible for overseeing all safeguarding concerns, ensuring appropriate referrals are made, and that staff receive adequate training and support. To contact our DSL, please email hello@cubehousingservices.com marked 'Safeguarding — Urgent' or call 0121 751 2260.

6. Confidentiality and information sharing

All safeguarding concerns are treated confidentially. However, safeguarding must override confidentiality when there is risk of harm to a person. We follow the Information Commissioner's Office data sharing guidance and may share information with statutory agencies without consent where necessary to protect a person's safety.

7. Whistleblowing

Staff and volunteers who have concerns about the conduct of a colleague or the organisation itself are encouraged to raise these through our whistleblowing procedure without fear of retaliation. Concerns can also be reported directly to the Care Quality Commission or the ICO where appropriate.

8. Policy review

This policy is reviewed annually and whenever there are changes to legislation or local authority guidance. The next scheduled review is July 2027. For a full copy of Cube Housing's safeguarding procedures, please contact hello@cubehousingservices.com.
